New Sectional

Steve and I bought a leather Natuzzi Sectional today. It is beautiful and we love it! The leather is so soft and there is TONS of seating. The side two seats recline, which Steve is thrilled about. Thanks to our friends Kelly and Brian for letting us borrow their truck and trailer. After having a spit-up baby for the past 4 months we decided we could never go back to cloth. It is leather from here on out. So easy to clean. On a second note, read Carson's shirt. It perfectly describes how he is acting today...

Mommy and Me

I realized the other day that I really don't have any pictures with Carson, so today on our Sunday walk Steve took some pictures for us. Carson was not in a smiley mood, so this is as good as they got.

Thank you congressman McClintock

My favorite morning AM radio talk show is Armstrong and Getty. Recently they asked their listeners to write post cards about the proposed government bail-outs. Congressman for California, Tom McClintock took those postcards to congress this week. To the right is the 5 minute speech he gave. Click on the top youtube box link, it is worth listening to. Thank you Congressmen for standing up for me and the other 92% of us who have been responsible and are making sacrifices in order to continue to pay our mortgages, even though we owe more then our homes are worth now. What is wrong with our government? We all need to have a voice and stick-up for what we know is right. Okay, I'll get off of my soap box now...

Bath time isn't as clean as you'd think...

We all love being immersed in warm water. It is so relaxing, nothing beats it. Well, Carson gets very relaxed in the tub if you know what I mean... A few seconds after being in the bath there is always a little fountain of pee that comes. During bath time yesterday somehow the poor kid ended-up peeing in his own face! He looked so confused wondering where all this liquid was coming from. Hence the need for the wash cloth in the video. And no, I was not able to get the incident on camera. This was after the steady stream. Baby boys, nothings beats them!

Four Months Old!

I am a very wiggly little boy. I love to kick my legs and flail my arms when I get excited. I also giggle and coo. I am growing into a very cute little boy. I went to the doctor this week and I weigh 16 lbs. 5 oz. (74%) and I am 2 feet 2.5 inches tall (92%). I am already wearing my 6 month clothes. I love playing in my exercsaucer and my johhny-jump-up. My legs are getting so much stronger and I enjoy standing on them. I am starting to reach for objects and put things in my mouth. I am always sucking on my fingers and fist. Mom & Dad think I am even spitting-up less, hurray! I’ve been waking-up to eat once a night, usually around 3:00 am, and then I wake-up for good around 7:00. I’ve been napping better because Mom finally figured out that I was sleeping too much at night and that is why I wouldn’t take good naps. She shortened my night time sleep and I’ve been doing much better. I take a 1-2 hour nap in the morning, 1-2 hours in the early afternoon, then a 1 hour nap in the early evenings. I eat less often now too. Every 4 hours. I am a very social boy and love to be around people who hold and talk to me, but when I get tired I only want to be at home in my own bed! I don’t sleep in my carseat or stroller, I just like my crib. I hate the carseat. I throw a screaming fit when Mom straps me in to run arons. I don’t like being in the back seat all by myself, staring at nothing. Mom can’t wait until I am big enough for a front facing carseat. She hopes that will fix the problem. When I was first born everyone said I look like Dad, but now that I am older everyone says I look just like my Mom.

A Visit from Mimi & Claire

Last we one of my dearest friends in the whole world came for a visit and brought her darling daughter Claire. We had as much fun as two moms with small children could. We went into San Fransisco one day, dinner in Benicia, shopping at the outlets in Vacaville, and of course, what visit to Fairfield wouldn't be complete without a tour of the Jelly Belly Factory. Mims thanks for coming all the way from Arizona to see Carson, Steve and I! Lunch at the Cheese Cake Factory in Union Square.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I could not resist taking the pictures in just his diaper. I had to capture all of the fat rolls on his arm!

Beehive Sleepover

As many of you know I am an adviser at church for the "Beehives" 12-13 year-olds. We get together and do an activity every week on Tuesday nights. This week the girls decided that they wanted to to a slumber party at my house Friday night. It was actually a mock slumber party and the girls went home at 10:00. We had a lot of fun making cookies, doing hair and make-up, playing Catch Phrase, and of course, playing Truth or Dare. I even showed them my junior high scrapbook so they could see what I looked like and the things I did at 12 and 13. Girls this age are such a crack-up! Aren't they a cute group of girls? Rochelle, sitting next to me is the other adult adviser.

Harvard Q & A about Mormonism

I found this great interview with a junior at Harvard, Rachel Esplin about her LDS believes. She does a great job explaining our faith. Check it out if you are interested.

Aren't there any decent subs left in the world?

I've been on maternity leave since the end of October and my classroom has officially fallen apart... One of the biggest problems is that legally a substitute can only sub for 20 days at a time in a special ed. classroom without a special ed teaching credential. And no subs have a SPED credential. So just when the students start getting used to a person, a new one comes in. I guess it has been nothing but trouble since I've left. I teach a difficult group and frankly- I think the administration now realizes what a good job I've been doing now that I am gone! The latest sub was told not to come back because of alleged "inappropriate comments". They need me, I know, and I should go back, but my goodness so does my kid. I wish the school year was ending soon. This sucks.

It's Hard Being a Baby!

I swore I'd never have one... You all know what I am talking about...You see a cute baby and ask to hold it. He or she is smiling and cooing at you, then all the sudden SPLAT, there is spit-up everywhere! You politely hand the baby back and think to yourself, my kid won't be a spit-up kid. I'm here to say that all the wishing and hoping doesn't work. Does anyone know when he'll grow out of this? At least he is a pretty happy kid. It's hard being a baby when everything you eat comes back up again. It's hard being a mommy too!
