Six Flags with Grandpa Kelley

We bought a new car (pictures of that to come) in L.A. and my Dad was kind enough to drive it up for us last week. It was a short visit, but we did manage to take him to Six Flags. The boys enjoyed showing Grandpa around.
Grandpa going on all the rides that make Mommy dizzy.

Playing arcade games that Mom and Dad never let them play. (Carson won this "amazing" Batman hat. I think it will be a fight over wearing it to church today...)

No trip to an amusement park is complete without giant suckers.

Luke dead a sleep on the tram ride back to the car with a sucker in his mouth. Our dentist would cringe!

Luke 2 1/2 year update

Luke is almost 2 ½. He just had his yearly physical and here are his stats:
  • ·        Weight: 30 lbs (58%)
  • ·        Height: 3 feet 0.5 inches (69%)

He is a happy healthy little pumpkin. Luke has been in speech twice a week for about 6 months and he loves it. He is doing very well. He is still delayed, but I don’t think as much as Carson was at his age. I doubt services will continue with the school district when he turns two, but we’ll see. It’s nice that he is getting a little extra help right now. Luke is good at speaking in sentences and works hard at over pronouncing his words, which I find hilarious.

He has Molluscum Contagiosum . Carson had it too, which is where Luke got it from. It is tiny little wart-like bumps on his stomach, neck, and a few on his upper arms and face. They can last anywhere from 6 months to 5 years and they’ll just go away when they go away. Luke’s had them for about a year. Just recently a few have started going away, so fingers crossed in a few more months they will all be gone! They don’t bother him, but they drive me crazy!

Luke loves to get wild and play rough with his big brother. Carson is still trying to work on not being too rough back! He still loves to cuddle Mom and Dad. He is a HAIR BOY, not his own like Carson but his Mama’s. When I hold him or he is near me he has to be holding a handful of my hair. Safety blanket I guess. ..

Luke loves to laugh and be tickled. He loves silly games and to laugh. Recently he’s been playing more games on our phones and tablet and loves them. The show he always and only wants to watch is Handy Manny. The rule is the boys have to take turns picking shows so Manny is always the every other show. Luke loves to be outside, at the park, taking walks, loves the beach and swimming. He likes to free fall jump into the pool and hold his breath until one of us gets him. This summer we will be working on kicking and moving arms.

He is starting to point to Mommy’s tummy and say baby. He loves little babies. It will be interesting to see how he loves the one who will not go away… Luke is pretty good at finding ways to entertain himself. He likes to build things with blocks, play with Cars and with his Rescue-bot transformer. He loves to sing “Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree”.

He is a pretty good boy at nursery and Kids club. He is sweet, but this little boy has a temper. If Carson makes him mad Luke will respond by hitting him as hard as he can, repeatedly. Luckily that isn’t very hard and Carson never hits back. If a kid at the park or kids club takes his toy or does something that makes him mad Luke will push/hit that kid. Needless to say we are working on it. Hopefully, we can get that temper under control before he gets strong enough to actually hurt another kid. At least we don’t have a biter though!

Even with the temper Luke is still a pretty laid back, easy going boy. Since he hit two he is definitely more emotional and sassy, but overall he is easy as far as two-year-olds go. He is going to go to do pre-school this summer and I know he’ll love it. I have hooks for his and Carson’s backpacks in the hall and Luke loves to take his backpack where ever we go. He is definitely ready to be a big kid like is brother!
