Baby's Nursery & Other Updates

So, I am finally posting pictures of baby boy Bonner's nursery. Most things are pretty much done. My mom is working on the quilt that will hang above his bed. It is in the colors and fabrics that are in those little square frames hanging on the wall. The quilt is ABCs, hence the vinyl ABC boarder on the wall. I really love the vintage "Dick and Jane" type fabrics right now, so that's why I decided to do the nursery in this theme. Now all I need is the baby!

I have officially completed the first two weeks of school. These kids are waring me out! I've had a bad cold too, which hasn't helped things. Everything has been going pretty smoothly though. I lost the IA (instructional assistant) Nicole who has been working with me for the past 4 years. She went to another school district, which is great for her, but sad for the rest of us. So right now I am alone! It is very difficult to handle special ed kids by yourself. Especially when you have to go to the bathroom all the time!

Yesterday Steve and I took a cool hike in Marin through this valley to the ocean. It was around 3 1/2 miles and fairly flat, which was good for me. It was beautiful! Every once and a while we do things that remind me how lucky we are to be living in such a beautiful place! Here is me and my big self in Tennessee Valley park- I think that is what it's called.

Cache Creek Tubing

Last week, on my birthday actually, Steve and I went tubing down Cache Creek with the youth for our big-fun-summer-Saturday activity. Neither of us had gone before and wasn't sure what to expect. I am use to the Provo River water, which is icy. Cache Creek was the perfect temperature. I think everyone had a blast. In all honesty it was probably a little to rough for such a pregnant lady with the rapids and all, but I had fun. It was a great way to spend my birthday and end the summer before school started.

Our group picture half way down the river.

Loading up at the church that morning.

Some of the YW.

Two of my Beehives.

Our matching $5.oo Walmart water shoes.

First day of School

The school year has begun! Today was my first day of school and it went pretty well. I am lucky enough to have a lot of the students that I had last year and that always makes things easier. The day went by fairly smoothly, I only wrote one referral and suspended that lone student. Can you imagine your kid getting suspended the first day of school? The sad news is Nicole my I.A. (instructional assistant) and great friend over the last 3 school years is leaving me to work at another school. She was nice enough to come for the first 2 weeks to help me set everything up though. Okay, the funniest quote of the day is from a student who was expelled around Christmas last year and is now back, so he didn't know I was pregnant. He walked into class today, took one look at me and said, "Did your boyfriend do that to you?" I said no, my husband and I chose to have a baby and he looked at me like what's the difference? Oh the generation of the future...

One last Hurrah for Summer!

I just got back from a "sister's week" in Laguna with 4 of my sisters, 1 sister-in-law, my mom and 2 babies. Laguna is the most beautiful place in all of California. If any of you have not spent time there, I'd advise you to plan a trip. My mom rented a house a block from the beach for the whole week. It was so nice to spend time with my sisters and mom in such a great place. My only complaint is I didn't take enough pictures!! Our location was perfect. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our house. We spent a ton of time a the beach and in the little town looking at all the shops. We went the the Saw Dust festival as well as the Pageant of the Masters. Pageant of the Masters is where real people pose re-creating famous paintings and sculptures. It all looked so real! It was fun to try out a lot of new resturants all week.
Katherine, my brother's baby is still little so she was with us for the whole week. Oliver joined us for the last few days. It's always fun to have babies around to hold and love. I'll post some of the pictures I have. Hopefully my sisters took more and will email them to me, hint, hint...Here is me, Laura and Regan having lunch at Rubys at the end of the Huntington Beach Pier.

Laura Lynn smiling for the camera as she is walking up the hill.

Me and baby Katherine with her rosey cheeks!

Becky and Oliver riding the Laguna trolley.

One more funny thing. My dad took care of Oliver for 2 days while Becky was with us. Ollie's hair was getting a little long so my dad decided to take to liberty to cut it himself and did a horrible job! Sorry Dad, but it's true. So Becky had to take Oliver to get his first real big kid hair cut. He did not like it at all! Luckily, he had the hairy sucker to distract him =).
