I love clean floors

Steve and I bought a vacuum from Costco about three years ago. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it did the job. Lately, our carpet has been looking dirty and worn and it is only two years old. I noticed that the vacuum wasn't sucking as well as it use to. Steve researched vacuums and we decided on the Eureka. So, we took our old one back to Costco (got to love Costco, they take everything back) and bought the new one from Best Buy. I just vacuumed the carpets and they look brand new! It is amazing what a good vacuum can do! Isn't it funny what we get excited about now, compared to 10 years ago?

On a separate note I started college courses this week at Sonoma State University. In order to clear my California Teaching Credential I have to take around 12 more credits. SSU is about an hour away, but what's nice is most of the work is online and I only have to go it one Saturday a month. Today was my first day. The work shouldn't be too bad. It was hard to leave my little guy, all day, but Steve did a great job with him.

Interesting Baby facts

I get a weekly update from babycenter.com and this week it had some interesting things to say.

--The good news is that your baby's drool coats toys and other objects with disease-preventing proteins. That's fortunate — since she'll continue to explore anything she can get her hands on.

--Whether your baby is a night owl or a morning lark, a long sleeper or short sleeper, she'll probably stay that way throughout childhood.

--Can you spoil a baby? Answer, No and once he understands that you take his cries seriously, he'll be less likely to cry for no reason. In the long run, responding quickly to your baby's needs will make him less clingy and demanding, not more.

Drum Roll Please...

Carson slept through the night last night!!! He went to bed a 9:30 and slept until 6:00. How great is that? Here is a random picture I took before bedtime last night. Steve's parents gave us photoshop for Christmas. I haven't really had time to try it out, but wanted to do something to spruce up this picture. I've learned that photoshop is really cool!

Carson thinks he is a big kid

I know he is still a little too small for this, but he loves being in the sitting position and is really good at holding his head up, so I decided to try it. It kept him entertained for 10 minutes while I got dressed and brushed my hair. SUCCESS! On a complaining note- Steve has been working nights the past two days and I am sick of it! He gets home around 6 am and sleeps 'til 4 pm, then goes into work at 4:30 pm. So, not only do I get to see him for only a half hour each day, but I get no break from baby cakes. Hopefully tonight is the last night.

Two Months Old Today!

Mom has so many favorite things about me right now. One is that I am only waking-up once at night to eat. She is so proud of me! Speaking of eating, I am sure getting chubby. When I was born I had the skinniest legs mom and dad had ever seen. They are not so skinny anymore. I have a double chin now and chubby cheeks. I am a very happy boy and have started smiling a lot. Mom thinks that I have a very cute smile. I love to be held all the time. I am happy as long as mom and dad are in the room and preferably- a. holding me, b. in a baby carrier, c. Mom and dad are sitting right next to me with our bodies touching, or d. being talked to and given 100% of their attention. I have started talking to mom and dad, but they don’t seem to know what I am saying yet. I love to look at people’s faces and carry on conversations with them. I am really good at holding my head up and I think I’m a big kid. I love to take baths. I like the water really warm, just like my mom. Baths are important because I spit-up a lot! Mom takes me for a walk almost every day. I love going for walks and being outside.

Smile!

I was able to get Carson smiling on camera! It's not a very big smile, but it is a smile none the less. I love watching him as little personality starts showing.

Photo Shoot!

I haven't found my camera, but I did find my old digital camera and it works fine, so Carson and I had a little photo shoot this morning. He changes so much week to week. Here are a few of my favorites. I had to take the pictures in his diaper because I think he has the cutest little boy body.

Thanks Regan!

My sister Regan painted these darling pictures of Curious George for Carson. She is so talented. They look very cute in his nursery.

I Feel So Refreshed!

This is the second night in a row that Carson has only woken up once to eat! Miracles of miracles. I forgot how good if felt to be well rested. He usually wakes up around 2 am to eat, then again around 4-5 am. I think I found the trick. He is still waking up at 4-5, but I don't get up unless he is really upset. For the most part he just talks to himself, wines a little and then falls back to sleep after 5-10 minutes. This ignoring thing really works! So, how long does it take for something to be habit? Hopefully he will keep this up. On another note, I still haven't found our camera, so no pictures this time. =(

Finally some video!

So, we have temporarily lost our digital camera- at least I hope it is temporary...I have no idea where it is and it is driving me crazy! Since we haven't taken any pictures since New Year's Eve (last time I knew where the camera was) I decided to do some videoing of Carson today. He doesn't do much yet, but I think he is still fun to watch! He has started smiling and I was able to get a little smile on video. Enjoy!

Chicken Parmesan

I've been scrapbooking all week, so therefore I've been neglecting my blog, sorry! It's hard for me to find time for both. Anyway- Last night I tried out a new recipe and it turned out delicious, so I thought I'd post it. It is nice to be cooking again. See, the first half of my pregnancy I felt too sick to cook and the last part I was too big and tired. Okay, here it is:

Chicken Parmesan

1 beaten egg 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3 tablespoons milk 1 teaspoon oregano
6 chicken tenders 1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup crushed Ritz crackers 1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons melted butter

  • Combine egg and milk in a small bowl.
  • Combine crackers, cheese, oregano, paprika and pepper in a medium sized bowl.
  • Dip chicken in egg/milk mixture, then roll and coat in cracker mixture.
  • Place coated chicken in a greased 9x9 pan and bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.
  • Serve with spaghetti noodles and marinara sauce.
  • ENJOY!!

Bringin' in the New Year Trailer Trash Style!

Our friends the Ricks decided to have a trailer trash theme New Years party. You had to dress white trash and bring "gas station" food. Steve was all over this theme. He already had a costume and loves gas station food! We dressed Carson the best we could. He had a thermal and a onesie that said something about heavy metal on it. I am not pictured, but was wearing a John Deer hat and cowboy boots. The party was a lot of fun. There was hot cheese sauce, chips, lots of Hostess pastries, burritos, etc. Steve and I even managed to stay up until the ball dropped. Happy 2009 everyone!!
