L.A. Arboretum

When we were at my parents house last weekend we went to the Arboretum. It's funny growing up in LA there is so much you don't do. This was my first time there. It is a large park with plants from all over the world. There are also tons of peacocks roaming free. The weather was so nice we had to take advantage by being out doors. Above is a family pic in front of a kangaroo in the "Australia" part of the gardens. Don't worry, I thought it was real for a second. I mean how cool would that be? Tame kangaroos jumping around.

I don't think I am cut out for this anymore
Last night we got home from driving back from L.A. around 9:00. We had to leave on Friday because my monthly classes for Sonoma State were on Saturday. Before I went to bed (I was exhausted BTW) I went online to print out an article for class and realized that I neglected to do a fairly large assignment...6-8 page paper... Needless to say I was up into the wee hours of the night getting this stupid thing done. In my defense the class and syllabus are very confusing. In class today everyone seemed to not know what was going on. There were even a few people who didn't do the paper. All I know is I am not cut out for these up all night essay writing sessions anymore. At least Carson slept most of the night. For that I can be thankful.

Grandma and Grandpa are the Best!
My Mom had surgery last week, so Becky and I decided to go visit and hopefully help out- as well as we could with two year and two month old boys. Becky flew to my house and we hung out for a few days, then yesterday we drove to La Canada. The boys did very well on the drive, thankfully. I don't know how moms can drive with kids by themselves. Becky drove while I sat in back and that worked great for us! I'm here for the whole week. Steve flys in on Wednesday, then we drive home on Friday to make it back in time for my Saturday Sonoma classes. Here are pictures of my parents with their grandsons.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my Mom's birthday, so I decided to compile a top ten list of reasons I love her. Here it goes:
1. My Mom has always put her family before anything else. She has sacrificed a lot for us.
2. She loves her kids and is not afraid to show it! Each of us know how much Mom loves and cares for us. She also loves our kids and is a wonderful Grandma!
3. Mom has a lot of courage. She never wavers in her beliefs and stands up for what she knows is right and true.
4. She is always up for a good time. Mom loves life and wants to live it to the fullest.
5. Mom is very generous with her time and talents. When we moved into our house she came right up and helped me paint all week. She also helped me decorate Carson's nursery- which is a testament of her talents!
6. Mom is one of the hardest workers that I know. She always gives 100 percent to whatever she is doing.
7. Mom is a great advice giver. She has a very logical way of thinking and is helpful at putting things into perspective.
8. My Mom is very in-tune with her emotions and the Spirit. She knew something was wrong and drove all the way here to stay with me. A few hours after she arrived I had a grand-mal seizure. I am so grateful that she has those promptings and acts upon them.
9. She is a good listener and a very supportive and loyal friend.
10. Mom is an amazing example of how a daughter and wife should be. She has always been someone that I look up to.
