Where is the summer going?

Lots has been going on since we got back from Washington. My mom came up to help me decorate the nursery. Since I'm going back to work in August I want to get as much done as I can now. I painted, she sewed and we visited a lot of quilt and fabric stores. We make a good team. Steve's been helping with putting up chair rail, base board and crown molding. It is looking pretty good. Once it is all done I'll post some pictures. Last weekend I drove back to L.A. with my mom. I had an 3D ultrasound scheduled with a family friend and my best friend Laurel was having a bachelorette weekend. The ultrasound was really cool. Baby Boy Bonner is perfect. I took a picture of one of the pictures. Hopefully you can see everything. Laurel's weekend was fun. It was originally suppose to be for most of our college girlfriends who live all over the country to have a little reunion and celebrate Laurel's wedding. Her sister Katie and I were the only ones who actually came from out of town, but it was fun anyway. Lots of Laurel's good local friends were able to come. We had a shower on Friday night, went to the beach Saturday afternoon, then out to dinner and Dark Knight that night. We went to the Santa Monica Pier after the movie and got Slurpees. Laurel was coming up to Walnut Creek on Sunday, so I got to drive home with her. This week has been so nice because I've been able to relax! I am getting caught up on all those things around the house that I've been putting off. I have one more week of doing nothing, then it is down to L.A. again for the first annual Kelley sisters reunion. Mom has rented a house in Laguna and all my sisters and my sister-in-law Amanda are coming. Mom wants to make it a yearly tradition. Sounds good to me! I'm sure I'll have lots of pictures to post next time.

Twin Lakes, Bonner Reunion '08

Steve and I just got back from a week and a half of being with his family in Washington. We spend the 4th of July weekend in Richland and then headed for Twin Lakes (4-5 hours away) for a week. It was a special time because Steve's parents just returned from their mission and everyone was there, minus one husband. There are now 15 grand kids from ages 1-13, and 10 adults so things are busy- to say the least when we are all together. The Bonners have been going to Twin Lakes for around 30 years with friends and family. Now with every one's families growing it is getting a little crowded, but we made it work! There was a huge storm on Thursday, which knocked out all the power and water for two days. We were ruffing it! It's good to be home now and clean. I think I've gotten all the laundry done. My mom is coming tonight to help me with the nursery. I'll post pictures of what accomplish next week. Here are some pictures of Washington.

Last month I blogged about going river rafting with some friends down the south fork of the American River in Sacramento. We finally got the pictures in the mail so I thought I'd post them. It was a blast! Notice the apple in Steve's hand that he seemed to hold onto the whole time.

Creating a Nursery & Other Baby Stuff

Since I am now starting to show a little bit and I don't get to see most of you as much as I would like I decided to post my first "baby bump" picture. It is not huge, but it's there. 17 weeks.

Below are pictures of the crib we got off of craigslist from a lady in San Ramon, the glider and ottoman also a craigslist find from Oakland, and the changing table/hutch from the Green Valley community garage sale. I love buying stuff used b/c it is a lot nicer then the junk I could afford new. I mean just those 3 items would be around $1,640 new before tax. Yeah right. I think we got it all for $430.

Early in my pregnancy I found my dream stroller on craigslist in San Fransisco and had to have it. It was more then I wanted to pay for a used stroller, but I didn't care. Isn't it cute? In the picture it is set up as a bassinet, but it can be a regular stroller too. I thought it wouldn't be very hard to find the matching peg perego car seat, but boy, was I wrong. They stopped making them in 2007. I found one on ebay after months of searching, but they were going for around $250, for a USED car seat. Please. Luckily, I have a great husband who found one in Fresno and got the lady to mail it to us. Thanks Steve! I love it.
I also have random baby clothes (that I have been collecting since high school), some toys, and other little things. Nothing exciting enough to take a picture of. Now that I have the big items I am going to cool it for a while. Just a few more days of freedom before summer school starts. It is nice to relax!

Unemployment has never felt so sweet

I've been out of school for about a week now and it has been great! I have one more week off, then I am going to teach a 2nd-4th grade special ed summer school class for two weeks. It will be nice to make a little extra money and not have to teach all summer. I told Steve I'd wait until the summer to start on the nursery and I did just that. I want to get most of the big stuff done before school starts again in August. So far I've cleared everything out of the office. Now there is a changing table, crib, and glider in there. Don't you just love Craigslist and garage sales? It is really starting to look like a nursery. Now I am just sitting and waiting to find out what we're having before I start painting and sewing, etc. We find out July 1st if it is a boy or girl. Can't wait. Maybe later this week I'll post some pictures of our nursery findings.
I am 17 weeks along now. I am feeling better, but definitely not back to my old self. (Not sure if I ever will be). Warning, gross story... Last week I went to the gym and then ran some errands. I was getting hungry, which is the worst thing for a pregnant lady. It causes nausea faster then anything else. I didn't want to stop and get something to eat, so I tried to fight it. What happened might you ask? I threw up while I was driving. It was horrible. The poor Avalon will never be the same. Luckily, I didn't cause an accident or anything!
We've been enjoying good summer weather. On Thursday we went up the lake (45 min from our house) with friends to ski. Yesterday We took out our boat with friends for a few hours out on the Delta (10 min from our house). Steve's parents get home from their mission in a few weeks and they are coming to get it, so we have to get in all the boat time we can!
