What's this guys?

Carson is almost 6 months old so today my mom and I decided to try rice cereal and carrots. Here is Carson trying carrots for the first time. At first he kind of liked them, then not so much.

I am feeling much better. My back is healing fast! Saturday I wasn't able to walk and now I'm walking fine. It still hurts and I am not able to pick up or walk around with Carson, but at least I am not in agony anymore. Thank heavens for my mom. I don't know what I would have done if she didn't come up!

When life seems crazy, it always seems to get a little crazier!

Last night around 12:30 am I had a seizure. To give some history 3 1/2 years ago I had a grand-mal seizure. I was in the hospital for a week and they discovered a vein angioma (abnormal vein) in my brain that had a 3 mm calcification around it. The calcium deposit is what caused the seizure. I was on anti-seizure meds for 2 years, then went off of them to get pregnant. I continuted to say off of them so I could breast feed. Well, I had my second one ever last night. Poor Steve! It is so scary seeing someone have a seizure. That is just more then any husband should have to go through. During the seizure I bit my tongue and pulled and sprained ligiments in my back, so I am in A LOT of pain. We waited until morning to go to the ER and they gave me some pain medication, which has helped. My mom drove up right after I called her. She is such a wonderful mom. I can't pick Carson up, or do much of anything until my back is healed. I had to go back on my medication so I can't breastfeed anymore, which has been really hard. I guess I didn't realize how wonderful being able to breastfeed is until I am not able to anymore. At least I was able to do it until he was 5 months old. One of the biggest bummers of having seizures is not being able to drive. You have to be seizure free for 3 months after any seizure activity before you are cleared to drive again. So inconveinant... I went back to work last month, and now I am going to have to stop working again (beacuse I have no way to get there) and it's too bad because there is only a month left of school. The ER doctor said high levels of stress and sleep deprivation can sometimes cause seizures. I have a new baby, went back to work, and am taking college courses, you tell me, does that consitute for high stress levels? Anyway, I am doing okay. Thank you for all the phone calls and prayers. Any of my friends that live near by you are welcome to drive me around!! =)

Wicked

A few weeks ago a big group of us girls saw Wicked in San Fransisco at the Orpheum Theater. First we ate at P.F. Changs in Walnut Creek. Here is the back half of our table. We rode the BART into San Fran. Sabra and Leah. The Orpheum Theater is so beautiful! This was my second time seeing Wicked and it was just as good, if not better then the first time. We had great seats and had so much fun together. If you haven't seen it go!

Busy Busy Weekend!

Steve's parents came into town last Thursday night through early Tuesday morning on their way to Utah to visit family. This week is my spring break, so It was a great time for them to come. We always seem to have a long list of house projects to do when they come visit. Last week was no exception. Here is a list of what we got done in just 3 days!

1. Spring cleaning- Ruth and I cleaned all the plantation shutters and blinds. (A job I hate to do by myself).
2. Bill calked and Ruth touched up all of our base board.
3. Steve and Bill tiled the master bathroom. It use to be carpet in the vanity area and linoleum in the water closet. The tile matches the kitchen and the other bathrooms now. LOVE IT.
4. Ruth and I weeded the backyard flowerbeds and put down weed fabric then bark. We planted a few new plants including strawberries and basil. The back yard looks SO much better.
5. Steve and Bill added two new lights to the garage and 3 outlets.

As well as laundry, vinyl cutting, cooking, cleaning, mowing the lawn, and taking care of Carson. They even watched Carson one night so Steve and I could go to a movie. It was a very busy weekend, but we were so happy they came to visit and so grateful for all their help!! THANK YOU! And of course what new post wouldn't be complete without a few pictures of Carson...

My lack of tire changing skills finally caught up with me!

I was on my way home from work today and all the sudden out of the blue a cinderblock brick was tumbling around on the freeway. I ended up running right over it. The brick tore my tire and 2 other cars behind me. Luckily none of us hit anyone and got to the side of the road safely. I was so useless. I've never changed a tire in all my life and didn't want to try to learn while cars are wizzing past at 75 mph. I also had visions of the tire falling off if I tried. Through the kindness of strangers the man who ran over the brick after me helped and I was on my way. Thanks man with the blue Acura! Now I have to go to the tire store and buy a new one. It is scary when your tire blows out in the middle lane going 75. I'm just glad Carson wasn't in the car.

Taking Walks to the Extreme!

We take Carson on A LOT of walks. He starts out in his stroller and usually ends up with Dad in the Baby Bijorn. Today we decided to try out the baby back pack. It is pretty cool. I love that it has a canopy. Carson likes it too!
Getting ready to go. Check out those baby blues!
Carson's mischievous grin...This kid is such a drooler.

Back to Work

That's right, I started back today. I wasn't going to go back for the remainder of the year, but the district made an exception and let me come back part-time. I am teaching 1st-3rd period and have prep 4th then I get to pick-up Carson before lunch. A great lady in my ward who lives a few blocks away is watching Carson, so I know he is being well taken care of. School went well today. It almost felt like I haven't been gone for 5 whole months. The kids were getting away with murder and really needed their teacher back=). Even though they now are not allowed to eat, listen to their IPods, text, watch inappropriate movies, etc. anymore they're glad I'm back. Kids, especial special ed high school kids, don't do well with so much instability and lack of structure. Only 7 weeks to go! Wish me luck.
