Stuff

I feel like I haven't posted for a while... Here are some things that have been going on.

  • Just this morning I heard yelling/crying and went to check it out. I'm sure it was Carson who did something to make Luke mad. They didn't know I was watching and I saw Luke hit Carson three times in a row. I guess we're at that stage now...
  • I've been altering my summer shirts from last year which is exciting. I really like some of them, but they've gotten too baggy... Some have turned out cute and others not so much. I won't have any great post-preggo summer clothes if I alter all of them, but I can't help but be excited.
  • Potty training is still, well, in training. When we are at home I have him in underwear, but when we go out or he goes to pre-school he's in a pull-up. When I put him on the toilet he usually goes, but he won't ever go just on his own. He'll just go in his pants. He doesn't seem to care much. Any advice???
  • It's been really hot the past few days. We went to Sandy Beach on Friday to enjoy the heat. Luke saw Carson being buried and wanted to be too. I thought he'd freak-out, but he loved it. Steve buried him up to his chest and he thought he was so cool. (This is the only picture I have off my phone.) We've been doing tons of water balloons and playing in our kiddie pool in the back yard too. Today is the first cool day we've had in a while and the kids are mad I won't let them get wet. (Also pictured is Luke playing in my friend's fountain at a birthday party we went to last week. I was not a swimming party, but Luke sure thought it was.)

  • I think naps are officially done with Carson. =( He was about half and half, but whenever he took a nap it would take him at least an hour to fall asleep at night, so I'm cutting them. If we drive anywhere in the afternoon he'll usually dooze, but that's about it. Quite time has been going okay. The frustrating thing is he's been sleeping in until 7 am (which he never did before) and Luke's been waking up between 5:30 and 6am. I can't catch a break.
  • Luke doesn't talk much which worries me a little bit because of Carson's speech delay. I decided to wait until he's 1 1/2 years old and then get him tested. Hopefully he'll start talking soon and we won't have to deal with this with him too.
That's probably enough to bore you for now!

Cheese!

I saw Luke walking around the kitchen gnawing on a block of cheese and I had to grab my camera. The second I brought the camera out he stood still, smiled and said cheese. The total opposite of Carson!

I love his little bite marks. Can a kid O.D. on cheese? My kids go through a huge block in about a week.

Conversations with a three-year old #4

(We just woke-up)

Carson: Dad home?
Me: Nope, he's at work, but he'll be home all day tomorrow and the next day!
Carson: (Concerned face) What about money Mom?
Me: Don't worry Dad always gets two days off a week.

(Whenever Carson asks where Dad is and I say work he always asks why? I tell him because he has to make money so we can live in a house, drive our car, buy food, etc.)

Conversations with a three-year old #3

Me: Pre-school starts up again tomorrow (been on spring break). The bus is going to come in the morning, aren't you excited?

Carson: No, me no like pre-school. Me no like the bus.

Me: Yes you do, you love taking the bus!

Carson: No I don't! (very serious and stern)... (Giggle, giggle, giggle) I trick you Mom! I trick you (giggle, giggle giggle.)

Tahoe Weekend

We spent this last weekend in Tahoe. Our friends Ryan, Laurel, and little Justin Plewe came with us. The men left early Friday morning to ski and Laurel and I came up with the boys later that day (nice wives, I know.) We stayed at our timeshare by the Heavenly Resort. When we got to Tahoe Friday afternoon it was 60 degrees and not much snow.
Pre-blizzard
Saturday morning the Dads and big boys went sledding. They had a ball. There wasn't much snow, so it was pretty tame. Carson wanted to go down the big hill by himself and had a bad wipe-out colliding with another kid at the bottom of the hill (see face picture below.) Steve said he didn't cry for long and was right back up, going down again. This is the only picture the men-folk took of the sledding. Note: it isn't of sledding, but it's something, right?
Steve with Carson and Justin

By Saturday afternoon a full blown blizzard blew into town. The kids thought it was pretty cool, so did the grown-ups. When the blizzard was just starting Carson was dying to go sledding again, so Steve and I took him out. It was miserable and we only lasted one run. We were lucky to get our car back to the condo.

Look at that tough boy face while driving back. He was not a happy boy.
Luke patiently waiting our return
There was a nice long bath that night and hot chocolate to warm the boys up.

The next morning the snow had basically stopped falling and we ventured out to enjoy it. We learned that even properly clothed kids 3 and under don't do snow. It looks so fun in the movies, but in reality it is cold and wet. They didn't last long. Plus, it was difficult to sled in a foot of fresh powder. At least we got to snap a few pictures. (Insert here: A darling picture of Steve, the kids, and I...I would have loved to have gotten one, but I rarely get what I want in the picture department.) This is the best I could do.

The Plewe family. They have a child who will pose and smile for pictures.

It was a fun trip. we are so lucky that such a beautiful place is only 2 1/2 hours away. Steve and I decided we are going to wait another year or so before we do another snow trip. It's just too hard with little kids. We are both looking forward to when our kids are a little older so we can all enjoy trips more.

Conversations with a three-year old #2

Carson: "Dad, my tummy hurts" (typical bedtime stall tactic)

Dad: "Okay, in your prayers tonight lets ask Heavenly Father to help your tummy feel better"

Carson "Heavenly Father is so nice!"
